Explained simply

What are mutual funds?

A mutual fund pools money from many investors and invests it in shares, bonds or other assets through professional fund managers. You own units of the fund, and their value (NAV) moves with the market.

Different fund types carry different risk and suit different time horizons. The right mix depends on your goals, how long you can stay invested, and how comfortable you are with ups and downs.

At a glance

  • Start small — SIPs can begin at modest monthly amounts
  • Regulated by SEBI; units held in your name
  • Redemption timelines vary by fund type

FAQs

Mutual Funds: common questions

What is the minimum amount to start a SIP?

Many schemes allow SIPs from ₹500 per month, though minimums vary by scheme and AMC. We help you pick amounts that fit your budget.

Is my money safe in mutual funds?

Mutual funds are market-linked and carry risk, including loss of capital. Your units are held in your name, and AMCs are regulated by SEBI. Returns are never guaranteed.

What is ELSS and the lock-in?

ELSS is an equity-oriented tax-saving fund with a mandatory 3-year lock-in from each investment. Tax benefits are as per prevailing tax laws.

Can I stop or change my SIP?

Generally yes — SIPs can be paused, increased or stopped, subject to the scheme's terms. Exit loads and taxes may apply on redemption.

Do I pay you to invest?

As an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor, we distribute regular plans and receive commission from the fund houses (AMCs). This is built into the scheme's expense ratio. Direct plans, which have no distributor commission, are also available directly from AMCs.

How do I know which fund is right?

It depends on your goal, time horizon and risk tolerance. We map these first and then compare funds, instead of picking by past returns.
